Okay, the title is an exaggeration. There's a Fira, but it's hardly the adventure capital of Santorini. It's a postcared destination, lots of white houses, shops, hotels, and restaurants built on the cliffs of the island. Very picturesque. Patt and I did the once around, had a great lunch overlooking the Caldera, and went back to the pool for more R and R.
Yes, it seems unlikely that we will encounter any banditos or go white water rafting on this portion of our trip. The most adventurous moment will come, when, and IF, Alan caves in and tries some souvlaki.
That said, there are amazing sunsets, interesting villages to visit; and we intend to visit them all. Patt is getting very accustomed to the morning, noon, and evening coffee and snack services by the pool boys. I am in serious trouble when I get home unless I can get into a size 32" waist pair of gauzy white pants. (with black bikini underwear, according to her) Yeesh!

Jet Lagged
Here we are in Santorini, a wonderful mix of Sausolito and Nantucket. Sophisticated, yet isolated.
We had a serious case of jet lag this morning. Indeed it lasted until almost 1:30 p.m. local time when Patt and I finally woke up to begin our day 1. And what a day 1 it was. Patt lifted a spoon to eat her fruit salad and that's the most exerting thing either of us did all day. The rest was lounging by the (infinity) pool and drinking in the scenery from the Caldera. We just got back from a very local restaurant where we had dinner, and we're making our plans to ramp up the adventure beginning tomorrow.
Lisa, we are looking for Necco's for you. Dan, we'll let you know if there is a casino with donkeys here. Sonya, why are you reading this; you should be studying!
Oh, we did see a wedding by the pool this evening right around the same time as an amazing sunset. The couple was from the U.S. It was nice, but not as nice as our wedding. Besides, they didn't have their kids with them. Or Pete's band.
We'll post some good stuff tomorrow. Patt went by the name Cha Cha in Buenos Aires. I'm thinking of Athena, the Greek Goddess for this trip. Whaddya think?

Getting Ready to Go
Hi everyone,
We're getting ready to leave today. Alan removed all of the perishables from the refrigerator. That was the highlight. Don't ask about the lowlights.
